Google has big dreams – and as a big company it can even effort to put those dreams in reality. Apart from putting rather real dreams into action – like buying “YouTube” for the bargain price of $1.65bn, sometimes their fantasy runs wild.

Google is well known for their little gadgets be it to change their logo for various occasions or seasons or the equally entertaining “Easter Eggs”.

Earlier this year we heard about weird things happening to the Google templates at 3.14am sharp: the Loch Ness monster or the “Pi” symbol with the sky template at 3:14 am ( Pi = 3.14159265!!!!!) suddenly appeared on your personalized Google homepage template.

Google Earth – Flightsimulator

Using Google Earth we can now even fly between buildings with a secret Flight Simulator that takes full advantage of Google’s extensive satellite imagery.

To access these hidden feature, open Google Earth and hit or Ctrl+Alt+A (with a capital A) if you’re using a Windows Machine. (or Command+Option+A with other hardwares)

The Google Earth Flight Simulator comes with two aircraft options, a F16 Viper and the more manageable SR22 4 plane. Players have the option of commencing the game from their current location in Google Earth or can pick from a list of pre-determined runways.

Overall the game is fairly simple to play, but the striking difference is flying over real images of locations.

For example you can take a quick trip from San Francisco International Airport, heading north to the Golden Gate Bridge then turn back over the city before heading towards the Valley. The software is not perfect but you can have some good fun and an (let’s say semi-professional) overview how a flight simulator works.

Fasten your seat belts and enjoy your flight!
